The best there is.

I write this review for those who are in a difficult place in their life and are struggling with their examinations. Personally, I was in a difficult place, with limited time, trying to obtain a passing score for Level 2. Sean, who is equipped to handle both Step and Level exams, simply changed my examination thought process and quite frankly, my life. He is was a major part of my success and I feel very lucky to have been guided by him. I encourage those who find Sean to reach out. He is ALWAYS there to help his students get through their test. He is VERY experienced with learning styles and will find what you consider difficult, teach you one-on-one, and ensure you understand the material. He will check in on you to make sure you're mentally doing okay. If you have anxiety or test taking skill deficiencies, he will guide you with those concerns too. The bottom line is: Sean is a kind, patient, and knowledgeable person, who loves what he does and wants to ensure that your needs are met so that success WILL come your way.

Kicking myself for not hiring Sean sooner!

Sean helped me prepare for COMLEX Level 3. I struggled with Level 1 and 2, had to retake both of them. My difficulties continued with Level 3 which I failed twice. After the second failure, I knew I had to drastically change my approach so I invested in private tutoring with Sean. He helped a coresident overcome a Level 3 failure and I took a chance. I met with Sean via Zoom and immediately felt reassured I made the right choice. Working with Sean, we immediately created a REALISTIC study schedule. He even provided resources that proved invaluable! Through our many sessions, I found Sean to be intelligent, understanding, experienced, motivated, and very professional yet laid back at the same time. We worked through question bank questions while on Zoom to analyze and critique my test taking skills which, along with Sean's frequent motivating/encouraging comments, drastically increased my confidence. Yes, Sean helped address knowledge gaps, but I honestly think my success more so resulted from his identifying and highlighting my strengths than identifying weaknesses. Sean was always available via text/email despite his own busy schedule. He stayed on top of me to monitor my progress without being overbearing in the slightest. At one point, I asked Sean why he does this. Why tutor when you have your own medical career progressing with your own stressors and time constraints? He replied honestly with an answer I ultimately found very true. He truly enjoys teaching and plans to make it a significant part of his career moving forward with hopes of pursuing medical teaching positions with ivy-league institutions. If you are on the fence or considering hiring a tutor AT ALL, please do yourself a favor and invest in your future by hiring a tutor like Sean. From my own experience, once you're on the other side with a passing score and ALL the stress is GONE, you'll wonder why you didn't do it sooner. Good luck and remember, exam scores do NOT reflect your future potential!!

Extremely motivating!

Sean was extremely motivating and dedicated to me as I prepared for COMLEX 2. He did a fantastic job tailoring his sessions with my schedule and timeline. In our sessions, we reviewed material, practiced test taking strategies, and went over practice questions. Most importantly in my case, he was a huge support and helped me regain my confidence as he I prepared mentally to retake COMLEX 2. I would highly recommend him!

Step 1 Review

He was able to break down the material and clearly explain all the topics. It was great to be able to discuss the material with someone who is so knowledgeable and more importantly who has a knack for teaching others.

Knowledgable and more than just a tutor

When I first started working with Sean, I was 6 weeks out from Step 1 and pretty unsure if I was on track to passing. From the very first meeting with Sean, I felt right away that he had a well-honed philosophy for test preparation and was ready to help me develop a plan to get ready. Literally the first time we spoke, my confidence began to grow because he not only had a well-thought out approach to helping me prepare but he also understood the health challenges I was dealing with and genuinely cared about how he could best help me navigate those in preparing for Step 1. Every time I worked with Sean, he not only was teaching me great test-taking skills and doing helpful content review for problem areas, but he was building up my confidence that I could not only pass the exam, but do well on it. Sean makes you feel like you've got a great partner behind you the whole time and I saw fairly quickly great improvements in my practice exam scores. By the time I took the exam, I felt so much more confident in my abilities and even when I had last minute test-anxiety, Sean was there to reassure me that the work we had done would pay off and in the end, he was exactly right and I scored well on Step 1. To give you some insight into how crucial some of the test-taking lessons Sean taught me, some of the strategies I remembered during a critical part of my exam when I was mentally worn out. I literally could hear Sean's advice in my head, and I am convinced this was just one example of how the test-taking skills he taught me were a key part of my success on test day. Bottom line is, if you're struggling with test preparation, just want additional support, or need a lot of help with any subject area, I am telling you, run and don't walk to sign up to work with Sean, you will not regret it.

I met with Sean for a month and I'm so so so grateful for him. I was really struggling with STEP 1 and was 2 weeks out. Sean quickly helped me realize the gaps in my knowledge, and in one breath helped me fill them. He built a sustainable study schedule for me, kept me accountable, and helped me improve my test-taking strategies.

He's down to earth, hilarious, and really boosted my confidence (along with Nicki Minaj's entire discography, of course). Just got my pass last week! Couldn't have done it without him and I cannot emphasize enough how amazing he is at teaching! Thanks Sean 🙂

I can’t recommend Sean enough. After failing my first Step 1 attempt, I felt overwhelmed, discouraged, and unsure of how to move forward while balancing medical school with family life as a husband and father of two.

Sean quickly recognized exactly what I needed: not more content, but a better way to apply what I knew. He built a tailored plan for me and taught me a systematic approach to breaking down and attacking questions that completely transformed my performance. That structure, along with his energy, accountability, and encouragement, helped me rebuild my confidence and start passing NBME practice exams consistently.

Sean is more than a great tutor — he’s an outstanding mentor and an exceptional person. If you’re struggling with Step 1 or trying to come back from a setback, he is absolutely the person you want by your side!

Sean and Sahith were instrumental in helping me turn things around after my Step 1 fail. I had just one month to prepare for my retake, and with their guidance, I passed. They quickly identified my weak areas, helped me improve them efficiently, and gave me practical exam strategies that made a real difference. Beyond that, their accountability, support, and encouragement kept me focused and confident throughout the process. I tell everyone studying for a medical board exam about The Boards Professor & will be using them for Step 2!

If you’re stuck in a score plateau or just feeling totally burnt out by the boards, you need to hit up The Boards Professor.

To be honest, I was spiraling a bit after my last practice test, but Sean completely changed the game for me. He doesn’t just dump more info on you (we all have enough of that); he actually teaches you how to take the test. We spent a ton of time on my "headspace" and breaking down my bad habits, like overthinking simple prompts.

Why it’s worth the investment:
It’s personal: This isn’t some massive, corporate prep course. Sean actually cares. He’s the king of the "pep talk" and is super easy to reach when you’re stressing out.

Strategy > Memorization: He gives you a solid framework that make the questions feel way less intimidating. It's like finally seeing the "logic" behind the exam and he helps you understand the "why".

Results: My scores skyrocketed, and I actually felt confident going into test day.

It’s an investment for sure, but if you want someone in your corner who actually knows their stuff and won't just read slides at you, this is it. Best decision I made for my boards prep.

I cannot recommend Boards Professor and Sean, along with Dr. Sawyer and the entire team, highly enough. This experience was truly a turning point for me.

What distinguishes Sean is that he does not simply teach test taking strategies, but rather how to study in a way that is both effective and sustainable. His approach incorporates well established learning methods such as active recall and spaced repetition, which significantly improved my ability to retain and apply information.

The experience is highly individualized. Sean takes detailed notes on each student’s performance, identifies strengths and areas for growth, and tailors a focused plan accordingly. It never feels generic and consistently emphasizes high yield content and efficient use of time.

What stands out most is the level of care and support. Sean is consistently available, follows up on concerns, and adapts his approach based on progress. He helped me work through specific barriers that had been limiting my performance and played a key role in improving both my scores and confidence.

He is also highly accessible and reviews questions in depth, ensuring true understanding rather than superficial memorization. By the time of the exam, I felt well prepared and supported throughout the process.

Beyond exam preparation, he takes a broader, more holistic approach, offering guidance on time management, stress, and navigating the larger medical training process, including applications and interviews. Dr. Sawyer and the rest of the team are equally strong, bringing additional expertise and reinforcing the same level of dedication and investment in each student.

Over time, Sean became more than an instructor. He became a trusted mentor. It is evident that he, Dr. Sawyer, and the entire team are deeply committed to the success and wellbeing of their students.

For anyone seeking to improve performance, strengthen understanding, and have consistent, thoughtful support throughout the process, I would strongly recommend this program.

I cannot thank Sean and Alex enough for their support. In addition to being experts in content, their real value is in the test taking strategies that they provide. They helped me raise my score over 30pts in 2ish months. They help you push through plateaus with new strategies and have frameworks that I have never seen any other tutors use. They are also INCREDIBLY supportive, which is crucial for tests like Step exams that will test you mentally. Would work with them again in a heartbeat!!!

I can’t thank Board Professors, especially Sean and Sahith, enough for everything they did to help me finally pass Step 1. After struggling through multiple attempts, I came into this last one carrying so much weight, anxiety, and self-doubt. But from the very beginning, they made me feel confident, composed, and fully supported.

What truly set them apart was their personal investment in my success. Sean and Sahith took the time to work with me one-on-one, breaking down challenging concepts, teaching me high-yield strategies, and helping me build the mindset I needed to perform on exam day. They checked in on me throughout the week without me even having to ask, making sure I stayed on track and felt prepared. I was also able to send them questions anytime, and they always responded thoughtfully and quickly.

Walking into my final attempt, I finally felt prepared, calm, and in control—and I owe that entirely to their guidance, dedication, and encouragement. Passing Step 1 has been such a huge milestone for me, and I wouldn’t be here without them.

If you’re struggling, uncertain, or just want the best preparation possible, Board Professors is the team you want in your corner. They don’t just teach you medicine; they believe in you until you believe in

When I first began preparing for my COMLEX Level 2 retake, I was overwhelmed, defeated, and unsure of how to move forward. After failing my initial attempt with a 361, I knew I needed a different approach. Unfortunately, I didn't know where to start and had lost confidence in my ability to objectively assess my learning and progress.

Finding Sean and Sahith through Wyzant was the turning point that changed everything.

Together, they helped me rebuild from the ground up. They didn’t just reteach medical content - they restructured the way I studied and the way I thought about the exam. From Anki scheduling to question dissection, from managing cognitive fatigue to mastering weak systems like cardiology, hematology, immunology, and renal - they taught me how to study with purpose and test with confidence.

What made their tutoring so effective was the consistency, structure, and accountability they provided. We met 1–2 times per week for 60 to 90 minutes, and every session felt productive and forward-moving. Between sessions, they were still checking in and available to answer questions, offer reassurance, or give a push when I needed it. Every meeting began with a review of my Anki logs and question bank progress, keeping me grounded in daily discipline.

They also taught me specific strategies for approaching questions - especially those where I felt completely lost. These techniques saved time and mental energy on test day, especially when fatigue set in during the final blocks. Their guidance helped me preserve both accuracy and pacing. Just as importantly, they helped me maintain morale during long study days, reminding me of progress when all I could see were gaps.

Their teaching styles complemented each other well: one often focusing on fine-tuning content gaps, while the other emphasized mental approach and test logic. They created a safe, non-judgmental learning environment where mistakes became stepping stones. I trusted that what I got wrong with them would become what I got right on test day.

The results speak for themselves:

Initial baseline score: 361
After 5 weeks of tutoring: 470
After 7 weeks of tutoring: 510
Official COMLEX Level 2 score after 9 weeks of tutoring: 563

Working with Sean and Sahith was the best academic decision I’ve made in medical school. I owe them more than just a passing score - I owe them a sense of confidence and competence I hadn’t felt in a long time. If you're lost, struggling, or just need expert structure, these are the tutors you need.

My experience with Sean was great. I came to him with my concerns and what I needed in a short time frame and he was able to walk me through a plan and get me exactly to where I needed to be. I was worried that the short time frame would be an issue and overall had concerns about my ability but he was even more confident in me than I was from the start and that built my confidence throughout our sessions leading up to exam day which was huge for me. I just trusted the process and before I knew it things were going exactly how I needed them to. Ive never worked with a tutor before so I took a leap of faith and it was completely worth it and I highly recommend Sean to anyone else if they need help with their exam. I learned strategies and overall study structure that I will be able to apply to every subsequent exam after this and I am very grateful. If you want to see real results, work with Sean. Investing in tutoring with him was hands down one of the best decisions I've made in my academic career and I cannot recommend him highly enough. I will not be taking another board exam without his guidance. I'm writing this because I chose Sean due to an outstanding review, which I can now say was entirely accurate, and if you need help I'm telling you that he's your guy.

I began working with Sean 9 weeks before COMLEX Level 1. At the time, my practice scores were low, I had zero confidence, and my test-taking strategy was honestly terrible. From our very first session, Sean was in my corner — I could tell that he genuinely wanted me to succeed and that he genuinely believed that he could help me succeed. He created a personalized study schedule (having someone plan and create a schedule for me was HUGE), helped me set up my Anki, identified knowledge gaps, and introduced a test-taking strategy that noticeably boosted my performance within just a few sessions. I went from making 30% on uworld blocks to 60-70% in a matter of weeks.

What stood out to me is how accessible and encouraging he is. Sean gave me his phone number and urged me to reach out with questions every day. His belief in me helped me build confidence in myself almost immediately — which was something I desperately needed.

I’ll be working with Sean again for COMLEX Level 2 and every exam that follows. If you buy in to his process and take his advice seriously, you’ll see dramatic improvement just like I did.

I don’t even know where to begin! Sean and Alex are by far the best tutors I’ve ever worked with. I found them at a time when I desperately needed help with COMLEX Level 2. It was a “make or break” moment, and after being hesitant for a while, I decided to seek tutoring because, as someone who's generally shy about asking for help, I knew I couldn’t do it on my own. I can say with complete certainty that I wouldn’t have overcome my hurdles without them.

I felt incredibly comfortable working with both of them. They make an excellent team. They communicate regularly about your progress, so by the time a session starts, they’re both up to date with everything about you. Their communication with me was consistent and effective, and I never felt ignored or dismissed. They’re always checking in to make sure you’re doing well, keeping up with you every step of the way.

What stood out most was how they tailored their approach to my individual needs. They took the time to figure out what wasn’t working for me when I couldn’t pinpoint the issue myself. During sessions, they are fully present and focused, making every moment feel valuable. Their support pushed me to give my best, and their teaching strategies were unlike anything I had learned in the years of studying before. I finished each session feeling like I had learned something new and that I would be able to use it in the future.

They teach in a way that helps you retain the material, making the learning process feel very personalized. As time passed, I could see clear improvements in my understanding and confidence. I truly recommend reaching out to them if you need assistance. I learned more than I ever expected, and I’m already looking forward to future sessions with them. For anyone hesitant, don’t be!

Not only did they help me come up with a study method that actually worked for me after multiple failed attempts at Level 1, but they made themselves accessible every day for any questions I had or any life difficulties that got in the way of studying. They were confident in me when I couldn’t build that confidence in myself, and ultimately I am able to continue on my journey to becoming a physician because of them. Out of all the tutoring platforms/bootcamp programs I tried in the past, Sean and Alex blow everyone else out of the water. Absolutely worth every penny!

We covered everything from nitty-gritty material, to decisive test-taking habits. I wish I had reached out sooner for help, because I was struggling with consistent 40s on my UWorld blocks; I cannot explain how dead-end that feeling was. But then redoing my entire daily schedule with Sean, and hashing out countless tutoring sessions, I was shocked to see my scores hitting 80s and sometimes 90s! Really, Sean came in and made my entire studying advance forward like nothing I've ever academically experienced before. The Lord truly was gracious with me and allowed me to meet Sean; I am beyond blessed to have met Sean when I did.

I recently had the pleasure of working with The Boards Professor tutoring services to study for my USMLE Step 2CK exam and I can confidently say that it was one of the best decisions. From the initial consultation to the last session, the entire process was flexible, professional, and extremely effective.

The tutors are not only highly knowledgeable but also incredibly patient and supportive. Sean and Sahith took the time to assess my learning style and adjusted each session to suit my needs. I was particularly impressed with how they pinpointed my strengths and weaknesses, simplifying complex concepts into manageable steps to make sure I fully understood the material before moving forward.

Sean is incredibly passionate about teaching and goes above and beyond to help his students. From our very first conversation, it was clear that he genuinely cares about his students' success and is dedicated to helping them reach their goals. He consistently checked in with me to review my progress, always making sure that I was on track. What really stood out was how he challenged me to trust my instincts and believe in myself. This encouragement made a huge difference in my confidence, and I’m so grateful for the way he pushed me to reach my full potential.

Sahith was extremely patient, reassuring and calm throughout our sessions. No matter how many times I needed to go over the same topic, he never hesitated to revisit it until I fully understood the material. What I appreciated most was how Sahith helped me trust my own knowledge. He encouraged me to believe in my abilities and taught me techniques for staying calm and focused during test prep. This mindset shift was a game-changer during practice exams and ultimately helped me approach the real test with a clearer, more confident mindset.

Whether I needed support with mastering USMLE Step 2CK concepts, calming my nerves, or prepping for residency interviews, the tutors were always available whenever I needed them. Thanks to their guidance, I saw a significant improvement in my practice exams and gained much more confidence in my academic abilities. I highly recommend The Boards Professor to anyone looking for personalized and high-quality tutoring for the USMLE exams!

I truly do not know where to begin when describing how crucial Sean and Chris have been throughout my board preparation journey. I worked with them while preparing for both COMLEX Level 1 and USMLE Step 1, and from the very beginning, I knew this was a service unlike anything else available.

Throughout my academic career, I have always struggled with standardized tests and, especially, the preparation that comes with them. I often became overwhelmed by the sheer volume of material, which led to a loss of confidence and ultimately affected my performance. However, once I started working with Sean, everything changed.

Sean and his team not only help students understand and prioritize high-yield content, develop effective strategies, and review material efficiently, but they also provide something that I have never seen any other tutoring service offer: they help you develop confidence and master the mental side of test-taking.

From our very first meeting, Sean acknowledged the stress and pressure that come with these exams. He listened to my concerns and, within the first hour, created a personalized study schedule spanning more than six months. He not only provided me with the tools and knowledge necessary to succeed during our tutoring sessions, but he also gave me the confidence to rise to the challenge and approach any question with confidence and composure.

Chris was equally instrumental in my success, and I truly could not have done it without him. I worked with him on a weekly basis, and his ability to simplify complex pathophysiology and break down difficult questions was second to none. He helped me master topics that I had struggled with for years, dating back to my master’s physiology courses. For example, concepts such as pulmonary airflow, which had always been challenging for me, became clear within a single session. Within 30 minutes, I felt confident tackling even third- and fourth-order questions on the topic. Chris was able to do this for not only pulmonary physiology but any topic that I struggled with, his detailed knowledge of all the high yield content was a cornerstone in my preparation.

Beyond his extensive knowledge, Chris created an environment where I felt comfortable asking questions and working through difficult concepts. Every session felt less like a tutoring appointment and more like a conversation with a trusted friend I had known for years. That level of support motivated me to push myself further and remain committed to achieving my weekly goals.

Overall, I cannot recommend Sean and Chris highly enough. They were there for me throughout the entire process and were always just a text message away. No matter the question or concern, they were consistently available and willing to help. If you are preparing for COMLEX or USMLE examinations, this is the team you want in your corner.

Highly recommended

I had a tutor BEFORE Sean that I worked with for about 1.5 months, but I kept plateauing on my Step 2 score in the 200-220s and eventually this tutor gave up on me and left me to pick up the pieces. It was devastating for someone who scored in the 99th percentile telling me I should just consider not taking Step 2. Then I met Sean who was an absolute godsend. He gave me the structure I needed to keep a strict schedule and focused me on evidence based methods for test-taking that would eventually help me boost my score. At this low point, I needed someone understanding, motivating, and passionate at teaching. After I spent most of my savings on my first tutor, I was running at the rock bottom of my bank account, but Sean was still able to accommodate my financial situation to help me get the tutoring I know I needed to eventually score 249 on Step 2 1.5 mo later. It has been an absolute blessing to have known and learned under Sean, and I would recommend him to anyone without reserve.

Great tutoring experience overall!

Sean is an amazing and extremely knowledgeable tutor who knows the ins and outs of USMLE exams and has experience writing questions for them. His expertise in teaching and also as a practicing physician make him an extremely useful resource for any USMLE related question, and it seems like he just knows it all like the back of his hand. He is extremely personable and accessible at any hour of any day and is happy to answer any questions over text even outside of our sessions. He quizzes you a lot but at the same time doesn’t make you feel bad for getting an answer wrong or not knowing something. We developed a personalized study schedule around my time, developed a test taking strategy that allowed me to tackle long and arduous questions to break them down, and covered content that I really needed help with in UWorld and NBME exams. I really felt like I was getting a personalized tutor who was dedicated to my study style and who understood my knowledge base and worked with me to fill my content gaps.

I also worked with another tutor, Alex, who was just as amazing as Sean. I felt as though they both complemented each other well in that Alex’s expertise was more on the biostatistics side and Sean’s expertise was more on the pathology/clinical side. Alex, like Sean, was accessible at any time and on any day, and was just as knowledgeable. I can say for certain that Alex’s teaching of certain concepts in biostatistics helped me on 3 questions on my actual exam (it really shows up more than you think)! Her approach to test taking is similar to Sean’s and again she listened to what was working for me and what wasn’t working and tailored a study plan and strategy that would uniquely help me. She has an immense amount of patience and is a great teacher.

I couldn’t recommend these guys enough; you get access to 2 tutors who are friendly, knowledgeable, and extremely accessible. It was amazing to get to know them and I can personally guarantee they will be a huge help to anyone studying for their board exams.

Sean was truly instrumental in my success on Step 1, and I cannot recommend him highly enough! From the very beginning, our sessions were organized, efficient, and tailored specifically to my weaknesses. His depth of knowledge is unmatched, definitely the most impressive I have ever seen, and he has an incredible ability to break down complex concepts into clear, testable strategies that I was able to use to get to the correct answer on questions I didn't even realize I knew.

What truly sets Sean apart was his support and strategies. He didn’t just teach content; he taught me how to think on exam day. The testing strategies and mindset shifts he gave me took my practice exam scores from the low 50s into the 70s and 80s, and after about two months of working together, I passed Step 1!

As someone who struggles significantly with test anxiety, Sean’s pep talks and constant encouragement were just as important as the academic support. He went above and beyond by making himself available on test day for last-minute questions and reassurance throughout the entire exam, which made an enormous difference in my confidence and performance.

I am already planning to work with Sean again for Step 2. If you are looking for a tutor who is not only exceptionally knowledgeable, but also deeply invested in your success and well-being, Sean is 1000% your guy!
